New Zealand Embassy Donate 2.35 Million THB to Thailand Floods

New Zealand will donate NZ$100,000 (THB2.35 million) to support the response to Thailand’s devastating floods, the New Zealand Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, Bede Corry, has announced. The Ambassador informed Thailand’s Foreign Minister, Dr Surapong Tovichachaikul, of the donation during the Ambassador’s introductory meeting with the Minister earlier this week. “As a close friend of Thailand, New Zealand is deeply saddened by the loss of life and damage to property as a result of the floods” Ambassador Corry said “We want to do what we can to help. New Zealand will direct its contribution to the Thai Red Cross to help support the ongoing response to the floods. “We well remember how quickly and generously the Thai Government responded to the Christchurch earthquake earlier this year, and our contribution to flood relief is made in that same spirit of solidarity,” the Ambassador said.

Ambassador of British visits the Flood Relief Operations Centre

H.E. Asif Ahmad, the British Ambassador, went to the Flood Relief Operation Centre at Don Muang airport. He saw Police General Pracha, who is leading the flood relief effort and handed over a cheque to help people who have had to vacate their homes. The funds were realised from savings made for the Queen’s official birthday event hosted by the British Embassy on 19 October, with sponsorship from business. The Ambassador was given an update on how the flood waters had affected central Thailand and its likely progress through Bangkok to the Gulf of Thailand. He also visited the refuge centre set up in the old international terminal where some 4000 people were camped in tents. Food, medicine and other provisions came from both the Thai government and voluntary organisations. Czech Embassy Donates 140.000 $ For Flood Victims Thailand

The Embassy of the Czech Republic has the honour to inform that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg in the name of the Czech Government has approved a financial donation in support of the flood victims in Thailand. The Czech Republic will make available to the Thai Red Cross the sum of 2.500.000 CZK (two million and five hundred thousand Czech Crowns, which is approx. 140.000 USD) The contribution will be paid into account of the Thai Red Cross. The Czech people would like to share the sympathy with Thai flood victims through the donation.
